FORT WORTH – Oklahoma men's golf finished 10th at the Ben Hogan Collegiate presented by Charles Schwab on Tuesday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.
The Sooners (10, +23), competing without their top-ranked golfer in
Jase Summy, carded a 12-over 292 in the final round at the par-70 course. None of the 15 teams — 13 of which were ranked — finished near even-par, as North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Texas shared the team title at 10-over par.
Junior
Ryder Cowan (T8, +1) led the way for Oklahoma, tying for eighth at 1-over par. He entered the final round just one shot back of the lead and remained within a stroke heading to the 17th tee. However, back-to-back bogeys on the final two holes pushed him to 1-over for the tournament. The performance marked Cowan's third consecutive top-20 finish this season and the 10th top-10 showing of his career.
Sophomore
Clark Van Gaalen (T17, +3) posted OU's lowest round of the day with a 2-over 72 and tied for 17th overall. It was his first top-20 finish of the season after earning Freshman All-America honors in 2024-25 with six top-20s.
The rest of the Sooner lineup struggled at the prestigious course, which annually hosts the PGA Tour's Charles Schwab Challenge.
PJ Maybank III finished 52nd at 11-over,
Matthew Troutman tied for 61st at 13-over and
Asher Whitaker placed 67th at 15-over in his season debut.
The 10th-place team finish was Oklahoma's first result outside the top eight in a regular season event since The Thunderbird at Papago in 2023, when the Sooners placed 11th. That season, OU went on to finish as runner-up at the Big 12 Championship, win an NCAA Regional and place ninth at the NCAA Championships.
Following a five-man playoff, Georgia Tech's Albert Hansson was crowned the individual champion and earned an invitation to the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Head coach
Ryan Hybl and the Sooners return to action Oct. 19-20 at the Williams Cup, held at Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
