NORMAN — The Oklahoma men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla., Friday morning, while the women competed at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. The men's fourth-place finish marked the best in program history at the annual Jamboree, while freshman Evans Biwott's second-place showing was the best ever by a Sooner male at the event.
Biwott paced the men's team for the second week this season, finishing the 8K with a time of 23:36.9, while Ronald Ngetich's 23:53.4 time secured him a ninth-place finish. Sophomores Shadrack Kiptoo and Thobias Cheruiyot also scored for the Sooners, finishing 19th and 31st, respectively.
The women raced a 6K at the Gans Creek Classic, with junior Leah Jeruto leading the way for the Sooners with a time of 20:21.2 to finish 53rd.
OU returns to action in two weeks, with the women traveling to College Station, Texas, for the Arturo Barrios Invitational and the men heading to the Princeton Fall Classic in Princeton, N.J., both on Friday, Oct. 17.
