Sooners Slated for Senior Day Showdown with Texas

OU Pushes for Postseason Berths

NORMAN — Oklahoma Soccer continues its push for postseason play when it hosts Texas on Senior Day in the regular season home finale Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. from John Crain Field.

The Sooners will recognize seniors Hadley Murrell, Michelle Pak, Alexis Washington, Brenlin Mullaney, Cassie Clifton, Caroline Duffy, Luciana Setteducate and Riley Brown prior to the game.

The match will be broadcast on SEC Network+ and live stats will be available on statbroadcast.com. 

PROMOS ON THE PITCH
LAST TIME OUT
Kayla Keefer scored on a beautiful one-timer with the help of an Alexis Washington assist, but Auburn got even with a penalty kick goal as the Sooners game away with a draw against the Tigers Thursday. 

SERIES HISTORY
The Sooners and Longhorns meet at John Crain Field as SEC foes for the first time in a longstanding rivalry … Sunday's game marks the 33rd meeting all time … the Sooners are 6-7-1 against Texas at home.

THE SCOUT
Texas enters play 3-11-1 and 1-7 in conference play … the Longhorns lone SEC win came against No. 13 Vanderbilt, a 2-1 win in Austin Sept. 26 … Texas suffered a 4-2 loss against No. 19 Georgia in the last outing … freshman Ava McDonald tallied a brace in that loss … the Longhorns' season finale is slated to be played against Ole Miss Oct. 26 at home … Texas has a young team, with 19 of their 21 goals coming from underclassmen … McDonald paces that total with eight.

ATTENDANCE
OU is projected to break the program single season attendance record following Sunday's game against Texas … the Sooners also saw a single game attendance record come to fruition earlier this year when 3,211 fans took in the game against East Texas A&M.

BACK-TO-BACK
Goalkeeper Caroline Duffy is coming off consecutive SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors … she hasn't permitted a goal in the run of play in each of the last four matches, turning in 14 saves during that span. 

FRESHMAN ACCOLADES
Freshman Ally Laccinole was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Top 100 Freshman List this past week, coming in at No. 40. Laccinole was named SEC Freshman of the Week after the first week of the season and recently scored the game-winning goal against Alabama Oct. 2. 

SEC POSTSEASON PICTURE
The Sooners are currently in position to make their first appearance in the SEC Tournament … OU has nine points and is in 11th place, with 12 teams making the tournament.

OF NOTE
  • The Sooners have played to three consecutive draws
  • OU has only allowed two goals in the last four matches
  • The Sooners are 7-1-2 at home this year and have a plus-17 goal differential at John Crain Field
  • A win would bring OU to its first regular season with a win against Oklahoma State and Texas in the same year since 2016. That year the Sooners made the NCAA Tournament, the program's most recent trip.
  • Duffy was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, the first honor for OU
  • OU has scored 33 goals this season. The Sooners scored 38 all of last year, which was a program record.
  • Keefer paces the SEC with eight assists. She is fifth in the nation.
  • The Sooners have a plus-18 goal differential
  • Ally Laccinole was named SEC Freshman of the Week Aug. 18, the first SEC weekly honor for a Sooner ever. She scored her first career goal at Alabama
  • Naomi Clark and Elle Canty both tallied braces in their first OU starts
  • OU has posted 15 first half goals and 18 second half scores
  • Three different Sooners have posted a brace this season (Clark, Canty and Juliette Rayo)
  • OU went undefeated in non-conference play for the first time in program history, going 7-0-1
  • Of OU's 101 points, 66 have come from a newcomer
  • The Sooners earned a spot in the polls for the first time since 2017 … OU started the year ranked in the polls for five consecutive weeks, a program record
