NORMAN, Okla. - A pair of Oklahoma volleyball players, in junior Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City, Okla.) and sophomore Tara Dunn (Poth, Texas), were selected to the Preseason All-Big 12 team as announced by the conference office, Tuesday afternoon. The awards were chosen by league coaches who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.

Texas totaled three preseason team selections and swept the preseason individual honors as Bailey Webster and Molly McCage were named Preseason Player and Freshman of the Year, respectively. Both Iowa State and Kansas State join Texas as each team had three 2012 Preseason All-Big 12 Team selections.

In a class-by-class breakdown, five seniors, seven juniors and three sophomores earned preseason honors.

The 2012 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and AVCA All-America honorable mention, McLaurin, led the conference in blocks on the year, averaging 1.35 per set. During the regular season, the 6'2" middle blocker recorded 25 solo blocks and 132 blocks assists during the regular season.

McLaurin was one of seven members unanimously selected to the 2012 Preseason Big 12 Team as she joins the likes of Bailey Webster (Texas), Torrie Campbell (Baylor), Alison Landwehr (Iowa State), Caroline Jarmoc (Kansas), Kaitlynn Pelger (Kansas State) and Haley Eckerman (Texas).

Dunn, a two-time Big 12 Rookie of the Week and member of the All-Conference freshman team picks up the first preseason accolade of her career in the Crimson and Cream. The 6-2 outside hitter notched eight double-double performances throughout her rookie campaign, and sat second on the team with 2.87 kills per set.

Oklahoma begins the 2012 campaign when it plays host to the 2012 Nike Invitational, featuring Missouri State, Western Michigan and Tulsa, August 24-25 at McCasland Field House. The Sooners were picked to finish fourth in the Big 12 this season, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
