McLaurin's Career High Not Enough for OU

AUSTIN, Texas - Sallie McLaurin had a career-high 17 kills but the University of Oklahoma volleyball team fell in four sets (12-25, 19-25, 25-21, 26-28) to eighth-ranked Texas Saturday afternoon.

McLaurin's 17 kills bested her previous high of 16 set against Missouri on Oct. 9. She committed just one attack error in 23 attempts, hitting a .696 clip. McLaurin added two block assists, moving her single season total to 90, an Oklahoma 25-point rally scoring record.

Suzy Boulavsky added 15 kills, hitting .324 on the afternoon. Oklahoma managed just three total blocks as a team, including one block solo by Sarah Freudenrich. Caitlin Higgins led the Sooners with 12 digs. Brianne Barker was one dig shy of her 16th double-double of the year with 41 assists and nine digs.

Oklahoma hit .284 as a team, rebounding from nine combined errors in the opening two sets to total just 15 on the day. It was OU's second straight match hitting above .250 and ninth time this season.

Juliann Faucette led Texas with 28 kills. Amber Roberson added 11 and Rachael Adams and Jennifer Doris had 10 each. Michelle Kocher had a double-double with 57 assists and 10 digs. Sarah Palmer paced the Longhorns with 18 digs. Adams had four total blocks.

The Sooners are back in action Wednesday evening against Colorado at 7 p.m. at McCasland Field House.
