NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team took the opening set from No. 11 Texas, 25-19, Wednesday evening at McCasland Field House. The Sooners fought hard but dropped the next three sets by finals of 28-30, 17-25 and 23-25. OU moved to 13-6 overall and 5-3 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns improved to 11-5 overall and 6-2 in league play.

Setter Brianne Barker had a solid night, finishing one kill shy of the first triple-double in Oklahoma history. Barker had 40 assists and 11 digs for her fifth straight double-double. Her nine kills were a career-high. Barker led all hitters in the match with a .583 hitting percentage.

Suzy Boulavsky had 15 kills, hitting .256. Morgan Reynolds and Sallie McLaurin added nine kills each for the Sooners. McLaurin continued her stellar play at the net, downing a match-best seven total blocks, including one block solo. Maria Fernanda added 12 digs.

Rachael Adams had 16 kills, one of five Longhorns to tally double-digit kills. Adams added seven total blocks, including one block solo. Hannah Allison had a match-best 56 assists and was one of three Texas players with 10 or more digs.

Oklahoma hit .242 in the opening set and out-blocked the Longhorns 5-0. Texas hit .053 and committed 10 attack errors and two service errors. OU led from the first point and never trailed in the set to win 25-19.

The second set was a marathon with 16 ties and seven lead changes. The Longhorns fended off six set points by Oklahoma to finally take the set 30-28. Texas took the third set, out-hitting the Sooners with a .441 hitting percentage. Boulavsky recorded five kills in the set for OU.

Oklahoma fought back from 11-5 deficit in the fourth set to tie the frame at 22-all. Despite the rally, the Longhorns proved to be too much, taking the period 25-23 to win the match in four sets.

The Sooners travel to Lawrence, Kan. on Saturday to take on the Kansas Jayhawks at 6:30 p.m. CT.
