LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team dropped a five-set match to the Kansas Jayhawks Wednesday evening at the Horejsi Family Athletics Center. The Sooners (9-3, 2-1 Big 12) won the opening set but fell, 3-2 [25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 27-25, 15-10], to the Jayhawks (8-3, 1-1 Big 12).

Sophomore Caitlin Higgins led OU with a season-high 17 kills, while junior Francie Ekwerekwu added a season-high 15. Higgins added 10 digs for her third double-double of the season. Ekwerekwu added three block solos, matching a season high, and three block assists.

Senior Bridget Laplante and freshman Maria Fernanda each contributed 27 digs, career highs for both. Laplante also had nine kills.

Sophomore setter Brianne Barker had her ninth double-double of the season with 12 digs and a career-high 54 assists. Barker added six kills and a team-high .357 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Suzy Boulavsky registered six block assists and 12 kills. Junior Sarah Freudenrich added eight kills and seven block assists.

As a team, the Sooners recorded a season-best 68 kills and 14 total blocks, including four block solos.

The Sooners travel to Boulder, Colo. this weekend for a Saturday match against the University of Colorado. First serve from the Coors Events Conference Center is set for 8 p.m. CT. Live stats are available at SoonerSports.com.
