NORMAN, Okla . -- The 22nd-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (10-3) got back on the winning track in their first match of the Oklahoma Invitational as they swept Texas Southern (-14, -9, -10). The Sooners jumped out to an early lead in the first set and needed just over an hour to get the win.

Senior Caitlin Higgins led the team with a season-high 15 kills, just three short of her career high. Higgins led the Sooners to an OU single match record hitting percentage of .530. OU committed just five attack errors, three of them unforced.

Grace Whitley also added 11 kills and led the Sooners with four block assists. Whitley was a perfect 11-for-11 on attempts during the match. Morgan Reynolds had six kills and Carlee Roethlisberger and Keila Rodriguez added three kills each.

Kylie Cowan had 12 assists, tripling her season high of four set against Florida A&M on Sept. 9. Caroline Weir and Kaitlyn Drawe both had 11 assists each. Reynolds and Roethlisberger added two block assists each. OU out-blocked Texas Southern 8.0 to 2.0.

The Sooners had 10 aces in the match, led by three each from Rodriguez, Eden Williams and Weir, all career highs for the trio.

Whitney Grant and Precious Spenser led the Lady Tigers with four kills each. Sarah Wooten led the team with five assists and Prudence Anusim led the Tigers with six digs.

The Sooners continue play Friday evening at 7 p.m. CT against Arkansas-Little Rock. The Sooners close out the tournament Saturday at noon against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and at 7 p.m. CT against Boise State. GameTracker for all matches and a webcast for OU matches are available at SoonerSports.com.
