NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma volleyball team rebounded from Friday evening's loss to defeat UT-Arlington (1-1) in straight sets, -17, -15, -19, on the second day of the Nike Invitational. Senior Sarah Freudenrich (Broken Arrow, Okla.) and junior Suzy Boulavsky (Houston, Texas) led the way with 11 kills each. Freudenrich's .917 hitting percentage led the team, who hit .213 overall.

"It was nice to have the opportunity to give a lot of players playing time," said Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo. "I thought everyone responded well."

Junior Caitlin Higgins (Amarillo, Texas) added eight kills for OU (1-1) and two service aces. Junior Brianne Barker (Amarillo, Texas) had a match-high three aces and led the Sooners with 34 assists. Sophomore Maria Fernanda (Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico) had 14 digs.

A total of 16 players on the OU roster saw action in the match. The Sooners tallied seven service aces and six total team blocks in the win. OU produced a 72 percent sideout percentage in the opening set and 65 percent overall in the match.

Eld-hah Kaswatuka led UT-Arlington with six kills. The Mavericks hit -.051 as a team.

Miami 3, Wichita State 2
Miami rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Wichita State in five sets in Saturday's opening match. Lane Carico led the Hurricanes with 17 kills and Ariell Cooke's 14 carried UM past the Shockers. Amanda Backes had 13 kills for WSU and Sarah Waldorf added a match-high 26 digs.
