Fort Mill's Morgan Chumney signs letter of intent with Oklahoma women's tennis.

NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma head women’s tennis coach David Mullins announced today the signing of Morgan Chumney to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Sooners beginning in the fall of 2013.
“We are thrilled about the addition of Morgan to our team,” OUHead Coach David Mullins said. “She will be our lone freshman but I have no doubt she will show some great leadership qualities early in her career.”
TennisRecruiting.net ranks Chumney, a five-star recruit who comes from Fort Mill (S.C.) High School, as the 20th best high school senior in the southeast and 63rd in the nation.
Chumney has found success at tournaments all over the country. She recently advanced to the round of 16 singles at the USTA Regional Tournament in Norcross, Ga., and was also a doubles champion at the same tournament.
She was also a doubles finalists at the USTA National Regional 18s in Birmingham, Ala., and the Southern Closed 18s Championships in Mobile, Ala.
As a junior, Chumney received the United States Tennis Association's South Carolina 2011 Mark Hodgin Junior Sportsmanship Award.
“Morgan has a big athletic game that will most certainly blossom during her college years,” said David Mullins.
