Ritchie Outlasted in Round Two

NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma junior Whitney Ritchie was eliminated from the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., late Tuesday in the second round of the qualifying round.

Ritchie, 60th in ITA preseason singles rankings, was defeated by South Florida’s Ecaterina Vasenina, ranked 29th, in the second round, who outlasted the Sooner’s comeback, 6-7 7-6 6-3 .

Ritchie defeated Virginia’s Maria Fuccilo, ranked No. 99, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the first round of qualifying singles.

The Sooners are back in action Friday, Oct. 12, in Evanston, Ill., at the Wildcat Invitational.
