Women's Tennis Begins Fall Season

OU women's tennis will open the 2012 fall season Friday in Austin, Texas, and Little Rock, Ark.

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team starts fall play at the Country Club of Little Rock Invitational and University of Texas Invitational.

Two Sooners begin at the University of Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas. The doubles tandem of Jane Pinkston and Whitney Wofford will compete against Heidi Stewart and Holly Werner of SMU tomorrow. Then Pinkston and Wofford start singles play against Emma Helisten (Tulane) and Llona Serchenko (University of North Texas), respectively.

The CCLR Invitational is in its inaugural year and is hosted by the Country Club of Little Rock. Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas Tech will send players to the individually flighted event.

Hermone Brhane, Emma Devine, Zita Engbroks, Mia Lancaster, Abbi Melrose and Whitney Ritchie begin fall play in Little Rock, Ark. at the Country Club of Little Rock Invitational.

Ritchie enters the season ranked 60th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's singles preseason rankings. She is one of 10 Big 12 women on the list.
