NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Oklahoma tennis head coach David Mullins and assistant coach Brook Connelly lost in the semifinals of the 2011 US Open National Playoffs for Mixed Doubles to the tournament’s No. 1 seeds, Christina Fusano and David Martin, 6-1, 6-1.

"We were pretty bad tonight, but either way we were completely outclassed by much better players," Mullins said. "It was a fun run but now it's time to get back and start another great season with the Sooners."

Fusano and Martin entered the tournament with the most professional tennis experience out of the 16 teams.  Fusano has won 11 doubles titles in the USTA Pro Circuit and has played twice in the US Open women’s doubles championship.

Martin was ranked in the top 40 in the world doubles rankings in 2008 and has competed in all four Grand Slams in men’s doubles.

Fusano and Martin advance to the US Open National Playoffs Mixed Doubles final on Saturday.  The top-ranked duo will face Yasmin Schnack and Eric Roberson.  The winner will earn a wild card spot in the 2011 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship.
