Tennis Faces Conference Road Tests

NORMAN, Okla.. - The 47th-ranked Oklahoma women's tennis team heads to Texas for two top 25 road matches over the weekend, OU faces No. 11 Baylor in Waco on Friday, March 30 at 5 p.m., and No. 22 Texas Tech on Sunday, April 1 at 1 p.m., in Lubbock.

Oklahoma (9-8, 4-1 Big 12) currently sits in fifth place in the Big 12 with its 4-1 conference record.  The Sooners have league wins over Oklahoma State, Kansas, Iowa State and Missouri with one loss to Kansas State.

OU is coming off back-to-back wins against the Cyclones and Tigers last weekend.  OU shut out Iowa State, 7-0, on Friday, March 23 and dominated Missouri on Sunday, March 25, 6-1.

The Sooners won all six doubles matches over both duals last weekend and won 10 of the 12 singles matches in straight sets.

OU has won six straight doubles points and is 9-2 overall after winning the early point.

The Sooners are led by their 46th-ranked doubles pair of Marie-Pier Huet and Whitney Ritchie.  The duo plays at the No. 1 doubles position and holds a team-best 14-3 record.

Baylor (15-5, 2-1 Big 12) is coming off three straight wins against Clemson, Kansas and Kansas State.  The Lady Bears' sole conference loss was to Texas Tech on March 1.

Texas Tech (13-3, 3-0 Big 12) is undefeated in conference play and sits in first place in the league standings.  The Red Raiders' three losses were all to top 40 opponents (Notre Dame, Arizona State and Utah).

Baylor boasts three top 50 singles players and two top 75 doubles pairs while Texas Tech's Rashmi Teltumbde is ranked No. 107 in singles and Kenna Kilgo and Samantha Adams are ranked No. 26 in doubles.
