NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 28 University of Oklahoma women’s tennis team fell to No. 21 Texas Tech, 6-1, Sunday, March 17, in Lubbock Texas.

Junior Mia Lancaster captured the Sooners only point of the match with a 6-4, 7-6, upset over No. 118 Kenna Kilgo at the No. 3 position.

“We competed a lot better today and had a lot of game points and even match points that we didn’t convert on,” OU head coach David Mullins said. “We didn’t play well but I was happy that we worked through it for the most part and gave ourselves a chance.”

Oklahoma (8-5, 2-2) lost all three doubles matches for the first time since the Jan. 25 loss to Arizona State early in the season. The Sooners are 0-5 on the year when they lose the doubles point.

“We got a good reality check this weekend and we need to continue to apply these lessons going forward.”

Oklahoma travels to Moraga, Calif. to face Saint Mary’s College on Friday, March 22.
