Softball Preparing for Fall Slate
Sept. 12, 2007
NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma softball team will hit the field Wednesday for its first team practice of the fall season. The Sooners will have two weeks of fall practice before opening the fall season Wednesday, Sept. 26 against Seminole State at 5 p.m.
Oklahoma will close out its fall slate with home games against St. Gregory's (Oct. 9), Northern Oklahoma (Oct. 11) and Connors State (Oct. 17). The fall schedule does not count towards the squad's record in the spring, but provides an opportunity for the players to compete against other teams while allowing the fans a glimpse of the 2008 squad. The Sooners welcome back 13 members, including seven starters, from a 2007 squad that produced one of the best records in school history (55-8) while claiming a Big 12 Championship and advancing to an NCAA Super Regional. In addition, the Sooners newest member of the coaching staff, Tripp MacKay, will be taking over the offense for the 2008 season. Fall Schedule All games played at the OU Softball Complex Sept. 22 - Intrasquad scrimmage (2 p.m.) Sept. 26 - Seminole State (5 p.m) Sept. 28-30 - OU Fall Festival Oct. 9 - St. Gregory's (4 p.m.) Oct. 11 - Northern Oklahoma (6 p.m.) Oct. 17 - Connors State (5 p.m.) |
