NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU Fall Festival and a contest against the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) All-Stars highlight the University of Oklahoma's fall schedule, head coach Patty Gasso announced Wednesday.
Coming off an appearance in the Women's College World Series finals, the Sooners open play with the OU Fall Festival, Oct. 5-7. The weekend starts with a matchup against North Central Texas on Friday night, followed by the Sooners taking on Connors State and Oklahoma Christian on Saturday. Play wraps up against Odessa College and Seminole State on Sunday.
Oklahoma returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 17 against Butler Community College. One week later, OU travels to North Texas on Oct. 24.
The fall slate concludes on Thursday, Nov. 1 with a tilt versus the NPF All-Stars in the final stop of the 2012 NPF Back to School Tour. Comprised of all-stars from each of the four NPF teams, the matchup against the Sooners serves as the 21st and final stop for the all-star squad as it travels across the country to compete against 22 different schools in a 40-day span.
The all-stars and Sooners met last season in a matchup that saw the crimson and cream prevail, 2-0, behind a two-run, fifth-inning home run from then-sophomore Brittany Williams. The contest against Oklahoma is the NPF All-Stars' lone loss in the two-year, 42-game history of the Back to School Tour.
