NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma senior pitcher Keilani Ricketts has been named a finalist for the 2012 Sportswoman of the Year Award, the Women's Sports Foundation announced Friday. Athletes were considered for the 2012 awards based on their athletic achievements between Aug. 1, 2011 and Aug. 12, 2012.

Ricketts, whose accolades already include being named the 2012 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year by the Amateur Softball Association and the unanimous Big 12 Player of the Year, ended the season ranked 10th in the country with an on-base percentage of .553 and 19th with an .825 slugging percentage. She was also ninth nationally with 53 walks as she helped lead the Sooners to a second place finish at the Women's College World Series.

In the circle, she ranked second in the NCAA with an ERA of 1.08, 457 strikeouts and 37 victories. Ricketts finished third in the nation in giving up just 3.91 hits per seven innings.

On the international level, the San Jose, Calif., native won a gold medal at the 2011 Pan-American Games with Team USA, recording a win in the championship game against Team Canada. As both a pitcher and hitter, Rickets helped Team USA to a first place finish in the World Cup of Softball VII, allowing just one run in 9.2 innings pitched and striking out 10 batters.

She also helped Team USA place second in the Canadian Open Fast Pitch International Tournament and second in the ISF Women's World Championship, where she was the team leader in pitching for games won (four) and strikeouts (25) over the course of the tournament.

The winners of the Sportswoman of the Year Award will be determined by a combination of a public vote (50 percent) and the Women's Sports Foundation's Awards Committee's vote (50 percent). The winners will be the two athletes - one individual finalist and one team finalist - who receive the highest combined share of a public vote and the Awards Committee vote.

The finalists in each of the categories will be invited to attend the Annual Salute to Women in Sports Awards Gala on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, where the winners will be announced and accept their awards.
Fan voting begins Sept. 1, 2012 at www.WomensSportsFoundation.org.
