TEMPE, Ariz. - The ninth-ranked University of Oklahoma softball team closed out action at the Kajikawa Classic Sunday morning with a 5-0 win over Western Michigan. Kirsten Allen and Allee Allen combined for the one-hit shutout as OU moved to 5-1 on the year.

Kirsten Allen pitched 5.0 hitless innings, walking two and striking out six. Allee Allen pitched the remaining 2.0 innings, allowing the one hit and two strikeouts.

Destinee Martinez reached on a one-out single and moved to second on an illegal pitch before moving to third on an error. Martinez then scored on Haley Nix's ground-rule double to left field to give OU the early 1-0 lead.

Oklahoma tacked on two more runs in the third as Martinez reached on a leadoff single and came in to score on Shults' fourth home run of the season.

The Sooners added two more runs in the fourth. Ali Vandever registered a one-out double and Brianna Turang reached on a fielder's choice that put runners at the corners with one out. The duo then scored on Shults' single to center field.
