Christy Ring begins her first season as a graduate assistant coach for the University of Oklahoma softball program. Ring was a standout leftfielder for the Sooners and started 252 games for OU over her four-year career.

As a senior, Ring earned first team All-Big 12 honors as an at-large outfielder selection in 2002. She was also selected to the first team All-Midwest Region team and the NCAA Region 5 All-Tournament team.

Ring led the team her senior year in several offensive categories including batting average, hits, on base percentage, total plate appearances and stolen bases. She started in all 65 games for the Sooners, had a hit in all five Big 12 tournament contests and was the hottest hitter in OU's NCAA Regional batting .733 (5-for-13), adding two runs scored and an RBI.

As a junior in 2001, Ring started all 59 games and earned All-Midwest Region, second team All-Big 12 and was named to the Women's College World Series All-Tournament team.

Ring played a large role in Oklahoma's national championship run in 2000. She started in 73 of OU's 74 games and was named first team All-Big 12 and All-Midwest Region. Ring batted .383 in league games and led the conference in stolen bases (32 on 40 attempts). Ring also tallied the game-winning hit in the Sooners' 2-1 come-from-behind win over California in the first round of the WCWS.

As a freshman in 1999, Ring was a second-team All-Big 12 and All-Midwest Region selection. She started 55 of OU's 56 games as the leadoff hitter and played center field and left field.

Born on August 28, 1979, in Fountain Valley, Calif., Ring lettered four years in softball and basketball at Calvary Chapel high school in Venice Beach, Calif. Ring earned first team all-league softball honors every season of her high school career.
