Rounding out the second team was junior pitcher D.J. Mathis.Long made her second career appearance on the Academic All-Big 12 team while Eckermann, Ricketts and Mathis each received their first career honor.It marked the second academic honor of the week for Eckermann, who was selected as a first team Academic All-District selection on Thursday and is now in the running for Academic All-American.]]></description>

Mathis, Samantha Ricketts and Lindsey Vandever highlighted the Coaches All-Big 12 first team while seniors Susan Ogden and Lauren Eckermann collected second team honors. The Sooners tied with Texas A&M, the Big 12 regular season champions, with the most first team selections. Oklahoma has placed at least five members on the All-Big 12 teams every year since the inception of the league in 1996. Ricketts picked up her third straight first team honor while Flores recorded her second straight first team accolade.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[OU senior pitcher Lauren Eckermann was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI Softball First Team released on Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America. It marks the second consecutive year the Sooners have produced an all-district selection. As a first team all-district member, Eckermann will be nominated for consideration for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American team. The Sooners have had seven Academic All-Americans in their history. Eckermann has also been recognized this year for her community involvement as she was chosen as one of 10 softball finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award earlier this season. The finalists were chosen from a list of 30 candidates based on personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete which include classroom, community, character and competition. The senior hurler has had a solid senior season for the Sooners in the circle as she finished the Big 12 regular season with a 1.33 ERA in conference action, which was second among all Big 12 players.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The Oklahoma softball team celebrated the end of its regular season as it hosted its first annual Fan Fest and Senior Night at the OU Softball Complex on Friday night. The fans, team and staff kicked the night off with a barbeque inside the ballpark.Oklahoma began the festivities with its senior ceremony as it honored seniors Lauren Eckermann, Savannah Long, Susan Ogden and Jadyn Smith. Head coach Patty Gasso opened the night thanking the seniors for their efforts as they were recognized individually in front of the crowd. After each senior was honored with their family, they each gave a speech to the crowd about their career in the Sooner uniform.Following the senior ceremony, the crowd was able to participate in activities with the squad. Fans were able to compete against the team in contests such as running the bases, throwing the longest, hitting against the Sooner pitchers and a home run derby.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The No. 7 Oklahoma softball team closed out its regular season on Wednesday night and will celebrate with its Senior Night/Fan Fest this Friday night at 6 p.m. at the OU Softball Complex. The team will be honoring the four-member senior class of Lauren Eckermann, Savannah Long, Susan Ogden and Jadyn Smith.In addition to the senior ceremony, the OU Diamond Club will be sponsoring a Fan Fest as Sooner fans will have the opportunity to participate in contests against the players. There will also be autographed merchandise giveaways and inflatable games as well as food and drinks.Come out and help the Sooners celebrate one of their best Big 12 seasons in school history. Oklahoma finished 16-2 in the league, marking its second-best Big 12 mark in school history as the 2000 team went 17-1.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The No. 7 Oklahoma softball team plated five runs in the top of the 12th on Wednesday night as the Sooners swept Baylor in Waco for the first time since 2002 with a 9-4 victory in the second game of the doubleheader. The 12-inning contest marked OU's longest since 2004 when the Sooners lost to Missouri, 3-2, in 13 innings in the Big 12 Championship. The doubleheader concluded OU's regular season as the Sooners finished with an overall mark of 43-11 and 16-2 in Big 12 play. Its Big 12 record marks the second-best Big 12 record in school history as the 2000 National Champion squad went 17-1. Baylor fell to 23-21 and 4-13 in the conference. The Sooners finished second in the Big 12 standings as Texas A&M took the regular season title with a 2-1 win over Texas on Wednesday night.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Led by freshman Haley Anderson's four RBIs, the No. 7 Oklahoma softball team blanked Baylor, 4-0, in the first game of the doubleheader in Waco Wednesday night. Game two of the twin bill began at approximately 7:30 p.m. The Sooners improved to 42-11 and 15-2 in the league while Baylor fell to 23-20 and 4-12 in the conference. Junior pitcher D.J. Mathis recorded her 12th shutout as she allowed three hits in seven innings. The lefty improved to 26-5 while striking out four and walking three. The Sooner offense only tallied four hits with Anderson leading the way on a 2-for-3 outing and four RBIs, including a three-RBI triple. Susan Ogden extended her team-best hitting streak to seven straight with a single while Samantha Ricketts added the squad's only other RBI.]]></description>

It marks the fourth time in Eckermann's two-year career at Oklahoma that she has picked up the weekly honor.Eckermann recorded a perfect ERA in her two Big 12 appearances last week, grabbing two wins over Oklahoma State and Texas.          <description><![CDATA[The Oklahoma softball game against Team USA will air on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night on ESPN2. The Sooners dropped the close 2-0 game to the Olympic squad on March 25 at ASA Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, but the game was scheduled for a tape-delay showing for this Tuesday night.OU's game was part of the Team USA's Bound 4 Beijing Tour. The Red, White and Blue are traveling all around the country this spring and playing the top collegiate teams in preparation for the 2008 Olympics.The exhibition game did not count towards OU's overall stats this season, but Oklahoma kept the game entertaining as OU starter D.J. Mathis gave up two earned runs on four hits while walking one and striking out one in 5.1 innings of work. USA scored two runs in the bottom of the third that made the difference in the game.Team USA threw three different pitchers and did not give up a hit until the final frame when Savannah Long broke up the no-hitter with an infield single against Cat Osterman.]]></description>
