May 16, 2009 | NCAA Softball Norman Regional | Norman, Okla.
ARKANSAS HEAD COACH JAMIE PINKERTON
On today's game...
"It was just one of those situations where we had a tight lead going into the fifth and for whatever reason one thing happened, another thing happened and then OU got running down hill. Sometimes when the wheels get turning, it's hard to stop. It was just one of those situations and we all go though them in our careers. We all have a inning, although I can't remember one in my career but unfortunately it happened in the NCAA Championships. People are going to look at the score and see 21-2, and I know that the game is better than the score. I was concerned coming into the game knowing OU's offense and knowing what had happened the night before. Knowing at some time they are going to get on track, and I was hoping it would be after our game. It happens and you just try to build off of a second NCA Regional, since this is the first time our program has done that. Hopefully we can build to the future and hope to have 20 regional appearances. I just told our players that this senior class has set a new standard for Arkansas softball and has gotten us back to where we belong and need to be and we just need to build on that and go on."
On the Arkansas seniors...
"Anytime you are a coach and you come to a program, that first class is always special. It is the first group that bought into what we were doing as a staff. They bought in and they didn't go in feet first, they went in head first and bought into what we did. Kudos to them they get to go to two regionals to end their career and a couple of SEC tournaments. They have a lot of offensive records and the first class to go to back-to-back NCAA Regionals. They are a special group academically and they have been a real solid class and they are class individuals.
