NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Sooners were unable to overcome a one-goal halftime deficit on Friday night at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex and eventually fell 3-0 to Oklahoma State.

The loss drops the Sooners to 7-10-1 overall and 2-7 in Big 12 play while Oklahoma State improved to 10-7 and 4-5.

OSU took the initial lead with Annika Niemeier’s goal at the 27:02 mark on a blast from 30 yards out.  The game’s first goal snuck past the outstretched hands of a diving Kelsey Devonshire into the top left corner.

The Sooners immediately created a goal-scoring opportunity a minute later as Whitney Palmer’s shot was deflected off an OSU defender to create the game’s first corner kick.

After 45 minutes of action, the Cowgirls held a 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish.

The teams were scoreless for the 25 minutes of the second half until OSU struck in the 70th minute to take a 2-0 lead and then again in the 75th minute.  Both second half goals were near saves but the momentum carried the ball off Devonshire’s hands.

Devonshire made six saves in the contest while her counterpart, Adrianna Franch registered her conference-leading seventh shutout.

OU had its share of scoring opportunities with seven shots and three corner kicks but was unable to avoid its fourth shutout of the season.  Jordan White led the Sooners with three shots.

The Cowgirls have won five straight meetings in the series and extended their advantage to 12-2-1 all-time.

The Sooners have one regular season game remaining as they host Baylor on Oct. 30 at home against Baylor for Senior Night.
