OU earns a league-leading seven spots on the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 first team.

NORMAN, Okla. - Seven University of Oklahoma gymnasts were named to the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 first team, announced by the conference Tuesday.
Seniors Megan Ferguson and Sara Stone earned first team honors for the third-straight season while Natasha Kelley earned her second straight first team selection.
Also earning the academic honor were senior Candace Cindell, sophomore Madison Mooring, junior Kayla Nowak and sophomore Hayden Ward.
The list marked the sixth straight year that OU placed at least four gymnasts on the Academic All-Big 12 team.
Under head coach K.J. Kindler, 39 gymnasts have earned the conference academic honor.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the communications offices, the gymnastics academic all-league squad consisted of 20 first team members.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA. To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
OU starts the postseason playing host to the 2012 Big 12 Championship on Saturday, March 24 at 4 p.m., at the Lloyd Noble Center.
