Multiple Sooners Ranked High

NORMAN, Okla. -- Undefeated Oklahoma stayed at No. 2 in the nation ahead of its home meet this week against No. 5 UCLA and multiple Sooners moved up the individual GymInfo rankings released Monday.

With a first place finish at the Perfect 10 Challenge last Friday, OU is now 14-0 on the year, giving the Sooners the most wins of any team in the nation and making them one of two teams along with No. 12 Minnesota (12-0) in the Top 25 to remain undefeated going into the eighth week of the season.

The Sooners' team average improved to 197.171 after posting their fifth-straight score above 197 with a 197.450 on Friday.

In the event rankings, OU comes in this week at No. 1 on beam (49.350), No. 3 on floor (49.304) No. 3 on bars (49.271) and No. 6 on vault (49.246) nationally.

Junior Taylor Spears and sophomore Erica Brewer each moved up two spots in the all-around rankings, with Spears now sitting at No. 4 in the country with a 39.446 average and Brewer coming in at No. 9 with a 39.375 average. Senior Brie Olson also cracked the Top 25 after taking the all-around title at the Perfect 10 Challenge, moving into the No. 22 spot with an average of 39.242.

Brewer also jumped from No. 8 last week to No. 4 this week on bars at 9.875 and went up eight spots on beam after a 9.95 last week to the No. 5 spot in the country.

In addition to a No. 4 all-around ranking, Spears also remains at the top of the rankings, coming in at No. 3 on beam (9.879) and No. 14 on bars (9.861).

Also in the Top 25, freshman Haley Scaman ranks No. 6 for her floor average of 9.892, junior Madison Mooring ranks No. 14 on beam with a 9.854 average and Olson is at No. 19 on floor at 9.871.

Freshman Haley Scaman continues to hold her ranking in the top 10 and No. 1 ranking among freshmen overall on floor, coming in at No. 8 overall with a 9.895 average. Senior Brie Olson is also ranked, coming in at No. 14 with a 9.879 average.

No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 5 UCLA will compete Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. CT at the Lloyd Noble Center. Friday night will be Sooners Have Heart night, with the first 500 fans receiving free light-up Sooners Have Heart pins and free pre-meet activities, including face painting, balloons and a photo booth for kids.
