Senior Sara Stone captured her second straight Big 12 weekly award Tuesday.

NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma women’s gymnast Sara Stone was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week for the second straight week, announced by the conference Tuesday.
Stone captured the honor after winning at least a share of three event titles in the Sooners’ win over then-ranked No. 20 N.C. State during OU’s Beauty and the Beast competition.
Against N.C. State, Stone won the vault title outright with a 9.9 on the event, shared the beam title with a 9.825 and the floor title with a 9.875.
The senior has won the vault title in three of OU’s four meets and has scored a 9.9 or higher in three of her four vaults this season.
Stone shared the beam title against N.C. State with three of her teammates (Rebecca Clark, Megan Ferguson and Kayla Nowak) after all four gymnasts posted a 9.825 on the apparatus. Stone’s 9.825 was her second-best career score on beam, her career-high of 9.85 was set on Jan. 21 at TWU.
The Dallas-native also took home a share of the floor title against N.C. State with a 9.875 on the event. The 9.875 was Stone’s second-highest score of the season on floor and her third straight score of 9.825 or higher on the event.
Stone has posted a 9.825 or higher in her last seven routines. Stone also holds a team-best four scores of 9.9 or higher in her 12 routines this season.
The award is Stone’s second straight Big 12 weekly award and the fourth of her career. Stone’s award is the fourth straight weekly award for the Sooners in just four weeks of competition in 2012.
Junior Brie Olson was named Event Specialist of the Week on Jan. 10, Taylor Spears was named Event Specialist of the Week on Jan. 17 and Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 24, while Stone was named Event Specialist of the week on Jan. 24 and Jan. 31.
OU will see two top 10 matchups in less than 48 hours this weekend with No. 9 Nebraska and No. 2 Arkansas.
The Sooners host the Huskers along with Centenary and No. 25 Minnesota Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center, before heading to Fayetteville to face No. 1 Arkansas on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.

The first 250 fans will receive a free American Heart Association Red Dress pin. The Sooners will be rolling out the red carpet for the fans and throughout the meet for a special Go Red! Fashion Show presented by the University Bookstore featuring special celebrity models.
