NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 13 University of Oklahoma women’s golf team is set to begin its 2012 fall season Monday through Wednesday at the 54-hole Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colo. The 18-team event will be held at the 6,405-yard, par-72 Red Sky Golf Club, and will be hosted by the University of Denver.

This marks OU’s second consecutive year to compete in the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The Sooners won the 2011 event as Chirapat Jao-Javanil claimed medalist honors for the first time in her collegiate career.

“We are excited to finally get our season started,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “We love coming to Wolcott. It’s an awesome place and obviously special since we won last year.”

Oklahoma’s lineup will feature five players who were all members of last year’s squad that finished sixth at the NCAA Championships.

Leading the Sooners will be Jao-Javanil, the defending NCAA champion. The junior ended last season with a 73.32 stroke average and finished in the top-10 in seven out of the squad’s 11 events. She is No. 4 on Golf World's list of the top 50 players to watch in 2012-13.

Junior Anne-Catherine Tanguay will play in the No. 2 position for the Sooners. Tanguay competed in all 11 of OU’s tournaments last year and recorded seven top-20 finishes, including an individual title at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic.

Competing in the No. 3 spot will be senior Taylor Schmidt. Last year, Schmidt claimed two top-10 finishes and finished in a tie for 16th place at the Big 12 Championship.

Junior Emily Collins will play in the No. 4 position after claiming five top-50 finishes in nine appearances last year.

Filling out the final spot in the lineup is junior Jade Staggs, who competed in six of the OU's 11 tournaments in her first year as a Sooner.

Kaitlyn Rohrback will make her OU debut this week playing as an individual. The Tennessee transfer averaged 75.96 strokes per round and posted five top-25 finishes last year as a sophomore at UT.

The Golfweek Conference Challenge field includes Campbell, Denver, East Tennessee State, Florida State, Furman, Georgia State, Mississippi, Missouri State, Nebraska, No. 19 Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Jose State, South Florida, Texas-San Antonio, Tulsa, UC Davis and No. 2 UCLA.

The three-day event will utilize tee times for the first two days and a shotgun start for Wednesday's final round. The Sooners will tee off Monday morning beginning at 11:45 a.m. CT. Live stats will be available at Golfstat.com.
