NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team was unable to participate in Friday’s scheduled first round of the Clover Cup in Mesa, Ariz., due to inclement weather. The Sooners will begin play Saturday morning at the par-72 Longbow Golf Club.
The 16-team field was scheduled to play 18 holes on Friday, but because of heavy rain the action never got underway. Play on Saturday will consist of 36 holes and begin at 9 a.m. CT. The second round will begin immediately after the conclusion of the first round.
“We were ready to get out there today and knew the conditions were supposed to be tough,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “As a team, we’re very strong mentally and we always talk about playing in hard conditions. At this point, we have to shift our attention to tomorrow and get ready to be out on the course all day. If the course reopens later on today, we may go back out there and have a short practice session.”
