NORMAN, Okla. -- No. 12 Oklahoma fell to Vanderbilt 76-63 Sunday, ending the Sooners' seven-game winning streak in its first contest since senior co-captain Whitney Hand's career-ending ACL injury.
 
"It is just going to take a while to adjust to different roles," OU head coach Sherri Coale said. "(Whitney Hand's) involvement in our offense, she is the guy who is always making the first cut that starts everything in motion. Now everyone is looking around to see who is going to make that cut and make that move. I felt like everyone was tentative."

Oklahoma had a season-high 20 turnovers and shot 37.5 percent from the field, its second lowest output of the season.

"That was the deal. We had 15 turnovers in the first half and we calmed down after that."
 
Aaryn Ellenberg led the Sooners with 21 points. Nicole Griffin added 11, Morgan Hook scored 10 and Joanna McFarland totaled nine points and 11 rebounds.

In its 10th game of the season, Oklahoma played with its fourth different starting lineup and just eight active players after losing its fourth player, Hand, to a season-ending injury last week.
 
The Sooners struggled to gain control of offensive rebounds and had just four before beginning to close its gap against Vanderbilt. The Commodores led by 18 points with 9 ½ minutes remaining.

Oklahoma attempted to sprout a comeback as Ellenberg scored seven straight points to cut the deficit to single digits, but Vanderbilt countered equally on each possession.

"Our problem in the first half," Coale said, "despite the fact that we turned it over repeatedly, was that we just weren't guarding. We didn't even attempt to guard them. That is a reflection of just being caught up in the emotion of it all and trying to find your way out of it and find your new role. That will get better, and over the holidays as they have time on the floor together, it will improve dramatically."
 
Vanderbilt led 37-27 at halftime.
 
Four Commodores scored in double figures. Christian Foggie led Vanderbilt with 17 points.
 
Hand tore the ACL in her left knee in the first half of Oklahoma's 71-68 win against North Texas on Dec. 6. The Sooners had to really from a nine-point deficit in the second half to beat the Mean Green.

The Sooners face UC-Riverside Tuesday and have just one other game before Big 12 play begins on Jan. 2.

"You just go into the gym everyday and try to get better," Coale said. "You pay attention to the things you can control ... There are lots of things that we can control that we did not do very well tonight."
