Postgame Notes

Oklahoma 86, California 75

Dec. 13, 2008

Recap |  Box Score

The 26-point deficit was the second largest overcome to win in NCAA Division I history, and the largest to win in regulation.  The Sooners trailed Cal by 26 at halftime and began a 10-0 run with 19:00 remaining in the second half.  Only Texas State, which trailed UTSA 40-8 with 2:18 remaining in the first half and won, 73-71, in overtime on Feb. 18, 2006, had overcome a greater deficit.

Jenny Vining made a 3-pointer in her fourth consecutive game, marking the longest such streak in her career.

Courtney Paris recorded her 102nd consecutive double-double and her 107th in 110 career games. With 13 rebounds, Paris passed Patricia Hoskins of Mississippi Valley State (1985-89) for second all-time on the NCAA's career rebouding list.  Paris, now with 1,666 career rebounds, trails only Drake's Wanda Ford (1983-86) by 221.

California’s Ashley Walker was limited to just four second-half points despite scoring 22 in the first half.

Oklahoma opened the first four minutes of the second half with a 10-0 run.

The 26-point halftime deficit was the largest an Oklahoma team has overcome to win in the program’s history.

Nyeshia Stevenson combined for 44 points in two games at the Basketball By the Bay Classic, by far her best two game performance as a Sooner.
