SYDNEY, Australia -- OU newcomer Portia Durrett scored 13 of her team-high 14 points in the second half to help the Sooners beat the Sydney University Flames, 70-59, Friday at the University Sports and Aquatics Centre.
Aaryn Ellenberg and Morgan Hook each contributed 13 points and Whitney Hand added 7 as Oklahoma ended its four-game Australian tour undefeated.
Like its previous games, OU's opponent held close in the first quarter before the Sooners pulled away a lead with a big second quarter. Oklahoma and Sydney tied 19-19 after 10 minutes, but the Sooners held the Flames to just six second-quarter points to take a 32-25 advantage at intermission.
Durrett
scored seven in the third quarter and six in the fourth and grabbed nine rebounds to hold off the Flames' attempts at a comeback.
The Sydney Flames are a team comprised of both professional and university players that plays in the Australia's premier basketball league, the WNBL.
Katie Rae Ebzery scored 28 points for Sydney with a 10-for-21 performance, including makes on seven of 16 3-point attempts.
Sydney's Sarah Graham hit four 3-pointers en route to a 17-point output.
After 11 days away on their preseason tour, the Sooners return to Norman, Okla., Saturday, Aug. 18.
