Kendric Maple remains undefeated with a 10-0 record after capturing two victories last weekend.
Dec. 11, 2012
NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma wrestler Kendric Maple earned his second-straight conference honor of the 2012-13 season Tuesday morning when he was selected as the Wrestler of the Week, the Big 12 office announced from its Irving, Texas, office.
The honor - the fifth of Maple's career and second this season - comes after the Wichita, Kan., native secured a 10-0 start to the 2012-13 wrestling season with back-to-back wins in OU's dual against No. 20 Wyoming and No. 2 Oklahoma State.
Although the Sooners dropped both matches, Maple remained undefeated in the 2012-13 season earning his ninth and tenth wins, respectively, each of which were totaled by fall. Maple kick-started the weekend after he pinned Wyoming's McCade Ford in 1:29 on Friday night, and followed his performance pinning Oklahoma State's Julian Feikert in 5:57 on Sunday afternoon.
His performances marked the fourth and fifth pins of the season- and continued a team-high 10-match win streak for OU's redshirt junior.
On the year Maple is 10-0 overall, and 6-0 in dual competition. He has totaled four pins, two tech falls and one major decision to start the 2012-13 campaign.
