NORMAN, Okla. - Behind the strength of two falls, two forfeits and an upset victory, the Oklahoma wrestling team cruised to a 38-6 win over No. 11/13 Arizona State Thursday at the Howard McCasland Field House. OU, ranked sixth, jumped out to a 26-0 lead in the contest just five matches in and improved to 17-5 on the season. The Sun Devils fell to 9-5 on the year.

OU wasted little time when the match began as No. 15/20 Michael Barger and No. 7/7 Josh Lambrecht scored first period pins. Then, No. 13/12 Tom Grossman and No. 5/3 Leonce Crump tallied major decisions and No. 6/7 Matt Ridings earned a forfeit victory to make it 26-0.

ASU scored its first points of the match with seventh-ranked David Douglas decisioning No. 3 Witt Durden, 7-4, in a seesaw battle.

That set up the match of the night at 141 when No. 15/10 Nate Parker upset Eric Larkin, 6-4. Larkin came into the match ranked No. 1 in the Amateur Wrestling News poll. Parker was able to hold off a charging Larkin, who scored a pair of takedowns late in the third.

No. 5/8 Jared Frayer's forfeit victory made it 35-3 before the Sun Devilswon their second match of the night with No. 11/8 Rocky Smart downing No. 12 Doug Cieleski, 6-3. Robbie Waller's decision win ended the match.

"Does this atone for last Sunday's loss?" said OU Head Coach Jack Spates. "No. But, at the same time, when you falter, the only thing you can do is pick yourself back up. I think we were very successful in doing that. Even in the matches we lost tonight, we wrestled hard and lost to some great kids."

OU will travel to Columbia to take on Missouri on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
