Paval and Webb claim No. 1 preseason doubles ranking.
NORMAN, Okla. -- Senior Costin Paval led six University of Oklahoma men’s tennis players listed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Preseason Rankings released Monday.
Four Sooners were among the top 125 in singles, while two tandems ranked as top doubles teams and two others earned distinction as top-rated newcomers.
Paval is ranked sixth nationally in singles. Guillermo Alcorta was 28th, Dane Webb 57th and Peerakit Siributwong 97th among the 125 singles players ranked.
Oklahoma had the most selections of any Big 12 Conference team.

Among the 60 doubles teams ranked, Paval and Webb claimed the No. 1 national ranking while the duo of Alcorta and Siributwong landed at No. 45.
All-Americans Paval and Webb reached the semifinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships in 2012.
OU’s two freshmen also grabbed spots in the 10-member preseason freshman/newcomer rankings. Leonard Stakhovsky made the list at No. 3 and Axel Alvarez Llamas claimed the No. 7 spot.
The Sooners begin the fall season Sept. 14 at the USA F25 Futures Tournament in Costa Mesa, Calif.
