IRVING, Texas – University of Oklahoma sophomore Peerakit Siributwong was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Men’s Tennis First Team, announced by the league Tuesday.
This is Siributwong’s first appearance on the Academic All-Big 12 Team. The multidisciplinary studies major from Bangkok, Thailand, was one of 15 members to earn the prestigious first team academic honor.
Siributwong competed at the No. 3, 4 and 5 positions for the Sooners this year and is currently ranked No. 106 nationally. Siributwong, the 2011 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, is ranked No. 58 in doubles along with Tsvetan Mihov.
On the year, Siributwong boasts a 12-6 singles record and is 14-4 in doubles action.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
