NORMAN, Okla. -- If you're struggling over Ionut Beleleu's name, you're not the first.

Shortly after arriving on the OU campus, as friends, teammates and professors continuously butchered his name, Beleleu decided the English translation would do just fine.

He's been known simply as Johnny ever since.

A native of Romania, the nickname is just a minor adjustment compared to the complete lifestyle change Beleleu has faced since venturing from his home country to play tennis here at the University of Oklahoma.

He has adapted well to life in the States and is one of the players on the rise for the Sooner men's tennis team.

Beleleu shares his story and discusses the transition to life halfway around the world in this week's Sooner Profile.
