Men's Gymnastics Wins Second Consecutive NCAA Championship
OKLAHOMA HEAD COACH MARK WILLIAMS
On clinching the title with a school record vault:
"Russell (Czeschin), Taqiy (Abdullah-Simmons), and Jonathan (Horton) were huge on vault. They were just incredible. Every challenge that we’ve faced this year, they have risen to it. We struggled in the middle but the team didn’t give up the faith. They believed in themselves. After the rings, I thought we had a shot. I thought well, we’re going to have to have to do some good vaults. I didn’t know how good, but this may have been the best vaulting I’ve ever had as a coach. It’s a great way to win a national championship."
On the quick start on parallel bars and high bar:
"We were rocking and rolling. I was thrilled with the first two events, but then you sit down in the bye and it’s a little hard to get going again. We’ve had our mistakes on the floor. On pommel, we’ve just been that way the whole year. We kind of survived those two events and then rings is a strong event for us."
On winning four of the last five national titles:
"I just call it a great team. With this many Sooner fans here to be a part of the national championship, that’s priceless."

OKLAHOMA SOPHOMORE JONATHAN HORTON
On winning the NCAA title tonight:
"It feels amazing. There are really no words to describe how it feels when it pops up and the meet is over and you’ve won. This team is amazing and unbelievably talented. The reason we won is because our team has more heart than anyone. We train hard."
On winning the all-around:
"The All-Around title doesn’t mean near as much to me as the team aspect. It’s just icing on the cake. It feels great. It was one of my goals this year."
On finishing on the vault:
"It feels the same as last year. It was a little tighter last year but our team knows what to do. We have a very clutch team. What would nationals be without a little drama?"
