NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma Head Men’s Gymnastics Coach Mark Williams and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners' 2013 schedule today. After its 12th-straight top-three finish at the NCAA Championships, OU’s quest for a ninth national championship consists of 10 regular season meets, including three home meets at the McCasland Field House.

The Sooners will try and top a 2012 campaign that saw OU win the MPSF Conference Championship for the 11th time in the last 14 years before finishing second at the NCAA Championships. Seven OU gymnasts earned a total of 12 All-American honors and junior Jake Dalton won an individual national championship in the all-around and parallel bars.

“I think we have a challenging competition schedule this year,” said Williams. “We'll face some excellent competition, and the schedule is highlighted by three meets at home at the Field House.”

The 2013 season begins on the road at the Rocky Mountain Open on Jan. 12. Hosted by Air Force, the trip to Colorado Springs, Colo., marks the first of two trips for OU to the Centennial State. Oklahoma heads further west on Jan. 19 for the Stanford Open in Palo Alto, Calif.

"At the Rocky Mountain Open we'll meet Nebraska and Air Force," Williams said. "The Stanford Open will be a good test against Stanford and Cal, who are in our conference."

Jan. 25 finds the Sooners closer to home, as they head to Fort Worth, Texas for the Metroplex Challenge. A new event to OU's schedule, Oklahoma will see several top collegiate teams, including defending NCAA champion Illinois.

"The Metroplex Challenge is new to our schedule this year," Williams said. "It will feature some strong competition, including defending national champions Illinois and Ohio State and Iowa."

Oklahoma closes out the first half of its season on the road at Iowa on Feb. 2 before competing at the Winter Cup in Las Vegas. A non-NCAA meet, the Winter Cup is an individual competition.

Feb. 16 marks the first of three meets at home as the Sooners welcome Minnesota to the McCasland Field House. OU hosts MPSF conference foe Air Force the following weekend on Feb. 23. Both home meets begin at 7 p.m.

After trips to Nebraska on March 3 and Michigan on March 9, Oklahoma hosts Ohio State on March 23 in the final meet of the regular season. The season-finale is schedule to commence at 7 p.m.

The postseason begins two weeks later for OU, as the Sooners return to Colorado Springs for the MPSF Conference Championships on April 6. Oklahoma will be competing for its 12th conference title in the last 15 seasons and 20th overall.

The 2013 season concludes on April 19-21 in State College, Pa., at the NCAA Championships. The three-day event is hosted by Penn State, where the Sooners will be competing for their ninth national championship in program history and sixth in the last 12 years.
