Hybl's squad looks to build on last season's success.

NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma men’s golf team will tee off this fall as the 22nd-ranked team in the country, as revealed by Golfweek Thursday.
The Sooners notched their second straight NCAA Championships appearance in 2012 and missed advancing to the eight-team match-play portion of the event by just three strokes. However, an 11th-place national finish marked the program’s best since 1993.
With a top-25 ranking to enter a new season, OU is looking forward to improving upon last year’s accomplishments.
“A new year always is exciting,” fourth-year OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. “We will be deeper this year in talent, but when it’s all said and done, you have to go tee it up. No one gives you anything in golf.”
Hybl’s squad returns five of its top six scorers from last season and four of the five members from the NCAA Championships lineup. Notably, the Sooners’ roster will include two PING honorable mention All-Americans in seniors Abraham Ancer (2011) and Will Kropp (2012), and a Division II All-American in transfer Luke Kwon.
The Sooners will open the season at the two-day Gopher Invitational Sept. 9 and 10 in Wayzata, Minn.
