NORMAN, Okla. -- The 33rd-ranked University of Oklahoma men's golf team will compete in the 54-hole Linger Longer Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Greensboro, Ga. The tournament, co-hosted by Kennesaw State and Mercer, will be played at the 7,073-yard, par-72 Great Waters course at Reynolds Plantation.
The 14-team event includes six squads ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50, including the Sooners, No. 2 Alabama, No. 11 Georgia Tech, No. 13 Oklahoma State, No. 15 Georgia and No. 29 Liberty. Charlotte, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State and South Florida round out the field.
"After a good solid week of preparation here in Georgia, I believe our guys are ready to compete at a higher level," OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. "We are heading down the stretch of the spring coming into championship season, and it is time for us to believe in our body of work from the year and to have true grit and determination each day we go out. This is a great field as always, and the boys are ready to play."
OU's lineup will feature seniors Abraham Ancer and Will Kropp, juniors Michael Schoolcraft and Eduardo Castiello and freshman Beau Titsworth. Sophomore Michael Gellerman will participate as an individual.
The Sooners are coming off a second-place finish in last weekend's Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas, where they finished eight strokes behind Houston.
Two rounds are slated for Saturday, beginning with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. Sunday's final round will also begin at 7:30 a.m. Live scoring for the Linger Longer Invitational will be available at GolfStat.com.
