OU named one of publication's hottest teams after first- and second-place showings

NORMAN, Okla. -- Following first- and second-place finishes in its first two spring tournaments, a Golfweek writer has dubbed the Oklahoma men's golf team as one of the hottest teams early in the spring season.
The 42nd-ranked Sooners "are looking primed for a good spring and a long postseason run," Golfweek's Cassie Stein wrote. The acknowledgement comes just days after the Sooners finished second in the Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday. OU posted a three-round 838 (-26) to finish seven strokes behind fifth-ranked Alabama. The tournament field featured eight teams in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50.
Just a week earlier on Feb. 12, OU earned a one-shot victory at the UTSA/Oak Hills Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. The performance prompted Golfweek to name the Sooners its team of the week.
OU seniors Will Kropp and Abraham Ancer have been key to the team's success so far, with Kropp garnering two top-five finishes and Ancer one in the top-five showing and one in the top 10, Stein explained.
