NORMAN, Okla. -- The 36th-ranked Oklahoma men's golf team carded a third-round 293 (+5) Sunday to finish in eighth place at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship in Macon, Ga.

The Sooners' three-round 878 (+14) was 30 strokes behind champion Georgia, which finished 14 shots ahead of second-place Georgia Tech at the 7,128-yard, par-72 Brickyard at Riverside Golf Club.

"We just couldn't quite get going today," OU head coach Ryan Hybl said. "It is unfortunate because the golf course was there to be taken. Our putting as a whole was not good this week, and that is why we couldn't get any momentum."

Beau Titsworth carded a 1-over 73 in the final round to earn his third top-20 finish in as many collegiate events. The freshman carded two bogeys early, but birdied back-to-back holes to close front nine. Titsworth added another pair of bogeys and a birdie on the 18th hole to finish the event with a team-best three-round 215 (-1) and a share of 14th place among the 84-man field.

"It was another good performance out of Titsworth," Hybl said of his freshman.

Junior Michael Schoolcraft had a slow start Sunday, entering the back nine at 3 over. Despite tacking on two more bogeys on the back side, Schoolcraft carded birdies on holes 10 and 12, and an eagle on the par-5 18th. It was OU's fourth eagle at the sixth annual event. Schoolcraft shot 1 over on the day and finished the tournament in a share of 17th place with a 1-over 216.

Michael Gellerman carded three bogeys and a two birdies in the final round. The sophomore tied Schoolcraft with a team-low 73 in the final round and finished the event in a 25th-place tie at 3 over par.

Abraham Ancer recorded his best round at the event on the final day. The senior carded three bogeys and a birdie to finish with a 2-over 74. Ancer tied for 63rd place with a three-round 228 (+12).

Eloy "Chito" Gonzalez also turned in his best round of the event. The freshman scored a 3-over 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 77th place.

The Sooners will conclude the their fall schedule at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate in Dallas, Texas, on Oct. 29 and 30.
