NORMAN, OKLA. – For the second time this week, Oklahoma offensive lineman Duke Robinson has been named a first-team All-American as the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) revealed its team Saturday.
The Atlanta, Ga., native was named to the Walter Camp All-America first team on Thursday and looks to become the first back-to-back consensus All-American at OU since Tommie Harris in 2002-03.
As it considers consensus All-Americans, the NCAA recognizes five All-America teams. Those five are the FWAA, the American Football Coaches Association, The Sporting News, the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Robinson, who was a finalist for the 2008 Outland Trophy as the nation's most outstanding interior lineman, was a consensus All-American last season and is a two-time First Team All-Big 12 selection.
The Football Writers Association of America, a non-profit organization founded in 1941, consists of nearly 1,000 men and women across North America who cover college football for a living. The membership includes journalists, broadcasters and publicists, as well as key executives in all the areas that involve the game. The FWAA works to govern areas that include gameday operations, major awards, a national poll and its annual All-America team.
