NORMAN, Okla. --
For the second time this week, Oklahoma linebacker Curtis Lofton has been named an All-American. The Football Writers of Association of America (FWAA) has named Lofton to its squad.

Earlier, the Sooner standout was named to The Sporting News' All-America team along with teammate Duke Robinson, an offensive guard. Robinson is also a two-time honoree after being named to the American Football Coaches Association team.

As it considers consensus All-Americans, the NCAA recognizes five All-America teams. Those five are the FWAA, the AFCA, The Sporting News, the Associated Press and the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

The Associated Press team is yet to be announced.

Lofton leads Oklahoma's defense with 142 tackles. He needs three stops in the Fiesta Bowl to move onto OU's all-time single season list for tackle leaders.

Lofton set a school record this season with eight double-digit tackle games, exceeding a the previous mark of seven by Jackie Shipp in 1981 and Daryl Hunt in 1977.

Lofton and his teammates will depart Dec. 26 for their date with West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl. That game will be played Jan. 2 and will be televised by FSN.
