FORT WORTH, Texas -- After registering a 24-17 victory at TCU, the University of Oklahoma has claimed a share of the 2012 Big 12 Conference championship with an 8-1 record in conference play.
 
It marks the eighth Big 12 title the Sooners have earned under head coach Bob Stoops. In total, OU now owns 44 conference football championships in its storied history. The Sooners previously claimed Big 12 Conference crowns in 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2004, 2002 and 2000.
 
With the victory against TCU, Oklahoma holds a 10-2 overall record on the season meaning no major college football program can top the Sooners' 34 all-time 10-win seasons. The 2012 campaign marks the 11th time in the Stoops era that Oklahoma has won 10 or more games.

The Sooners will make their 46th bowl appearance this season and their 14th straight bowl bid under Stoops. The Sooners have an all-time bowl record of 27-17-1. Oklahoma has won three straight bowl games under Stoops and is seeking to tie a school record with a fourth consecutive bowl victory.
 
It is anticipated that the University of Oklahoma ticket office will be open on Sunday evening to begin taking ticket orders from the general public once Oklahoma's bowl destination is officially announced. ESPN's BCS Selection Show will air Sunday at 7:30 p.m. CT, and it is anticipated that OU will officially know its bowl destination and opponent at that time.
