Missouri is currently ranked No. 1 in the BCS, AP and Harris Polls.
NORMAN, Okla. -- OU will play No. 1 Missouri in the 2007 Dr Pepper
Big 12 Championship Game in San Antonio on Saturday,
Dec. 1. The Tigers are currently the No. 1 team in
the BCS standings. Missouri is also the top-ranked
team in the AP and Harris polls. The coaches have West
Virginia at No. 1.
OU has played in 20 games against teams ranked No.
1 in the AP poll at the time of the game. Oklahoma's
most recent win against a top-ranked team came against
No. 1 Nebraska on October 28, 2000.
Oklahoma was ranked in the top ten of the AP, Coaches
and Harris polls released November 25. The Sooners
checked in at No. 8 in the Coaches and Harris polls
and No. 9 in the AP. It marked the 14th consecutive
week in the top 10 of the AP for the Sooners. Oklahoma
was listed at No. 9 in the latest BCS standings.
Initiated
in 1936, the AP has issued 968 weekly polls to date.
In more than one-third of the polls (36%), Oklahoma
has been ranked in the top five. No team in college
football history has been ranked more times in the
AP top five than Oklahoma. OU and Notre Dame are tied
for the most weeks ranked No. 1 at 95 each.
