OKLAHOMA AT A GLANCE
Oklahoma has won five straight Big 12 games following a 42-34 home win over Baylor (11/10). The Sooners improve to 7-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Big 12 with the win.

Offense
A balanced offensive attack has been the name of the game for the Sooners in 2012 as they rank 13th nationally in scoring, 15th in passing yards and 46th in rushing yards. Junior running back Damien Williams leads the team and ranks third in the Big 12 with 76.3 rushing yards per game. Senior quarterback Landry Jones has completed 66 percent of his passes with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Junior wide receiver Kenny Stills has been his top target, recording 54 catches for 682 yards and six touchdowns through nine games.

Defense
Oklahoma boasts the No. 20 defense in the nation through seven games, giving up 325.2 yards of offense per contest. In addition, the 19.6 points per game allowed ranks 24th in the country. OU's passing defense sits eighth in the FBS, yielding just 170.2 yards per game. OU has forced 10 turnovers in the past six games, with eight coming off interceptions and two via fumble recoveries.

Special Teams
Sophomore Michael Hunnicutt has made 10-11 field goals in 2012, while senior punter Tress Way is averaging 42.7 yards per kick. Justin Brown is fifth in the nation averaging 16.2 yards per punt return. Brennan Clay ranks 18th with a 27.8 average on kick returns, while Roy Finch would rank third at 35.7 if he had enough returns to qualify.

WEST VIRGINIA AT A GLANCE
Iowa State halted a two-game losing streak with a 35-21 victory over Baylor (10/27). The win moved the Cyclones to 5-3 on the season and 2-3 within the Big 12.

Offense
The strength of West Virginia's No. 18 offense lies in its passing game. The Mountaineers rank fifth in the country with an average of 347.6 passing yards per game. Geno Smith ranks third in the country in passing yards per game (337.8) and sixth in total offense (347.1). The wide receiver duo of Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey rivals any in the nation. Austin leads the country with 10.7 catches per game, while Bailey is third with 117.2 receiving yards per game.

Defense
In contrast to its No. 18 offense, West Virginia's defense ranks 110th in the country. While the run defense is strong with a No. 31 ranking (134.6 yards per game), WVU's passing defense is last in the country at No. 120 (345.2 yards per game). The Mountaineers rank 117th in scoring defense, as well. They have given up at least 34 points in all but two games this year, and are yielding 49.5 points per game in their current losing streak.

Special Teams
Tyler Bitancurt (41.3) and Corey Smith (42.6) have each punted at least 10 times for WVU this year, while Bitancurt has made only 6-12 field goals. Tavon Austin is the primary return man, ranking ninth in the country with a 30.3 average on kick returns and scoring one touchdown. He averages 8.8 yards per punt.
 
THE MATCHUP
Oklahoma is coming off a 42-34 victory vs. Baylor (11/10), while West Virginia suffered a 55-34 loss at Oklahoma State (11/10). The Sooners have won five straight Big 12 games, while WVU has lost four consecutive conference contests.
OU's win vs. Baylor was the 146th of Bob Stoops' career, passing Bud Wilkinson for second on the OU victory list behind Barry Switzer (157). Along with Bennie Owen (122), OU is the only school to have four coaches with 100+ wins.
OU's two losses this year have come against a pair of squads ranked in the top three in the BCS standings and the AP Poll who own a combined 20-0 record - BCS No. 1 (AP No. 2) Kansas State (10-0) and BCS/AP No. 3 Notre Dame (10-0).
The Sooners are currently No. 13 in the AP Poll, No. 12 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll and No. 12 in the BCS.
 
OU'S BIG 12 WINNING STREAK
OU is seeking to win six straight Big 12 games in the same season since posting a seven-game streak in 2008.
OU has outscored its last five conference opponents by a 233-102 margin (46.6 - 19.2 ppg).
Oklahoma has outgained its last five Big 12 foes in total yardage by an average of 503.2 to 334.4 ypg.
The Sooners have averaged 197.2 rushing ypg over their last five Big 12 games and have accumulated 24 rushing TDs on the season. WVU has permitted 164.7 rushing ypg and 16 rushing TDs in conference play.
QB Landry Jones is 151-230 for 1,861 yards with 14 TDs and five INTs (149.4 rating) in Big 12 play in 2012.
Oklahoma is 29-2 (.935) when Jones throws two or more TDs, including all seven of OU's wins in 2012.
OU has won 31 straight games when leading at half, including a 6-0 mark in 2012. The Sooners have outscored their opponents by a 194-75 margin in the first half this season.
OU is 30-0 in games under Stoops when producing a 100-yard rusher and a 100-yard receiver.
Oklahoma is sixth in the nation in third-down offense at 52.1% (62-119) and will face a WVU defense that ranks 102nd in the FBS in third-down defense at 46.5% (60-129).
 
MORE KEY STATS ON OU-WEST VIRGINIA
OU leads the Big 12 and ranks eighth in the nation in pass defense (170.2 ypg) and holds the No. 24 scoring defense (19.6) in the country. WVU ranks fifth in the nation in passing (347.6 ypg) and 11th in scoring offense (40.0 ppg).
OU also leads the Big 12 in pass defense efficiency (92.7) and opp. first downs (17.3 per game).
OU ranks 13th in the nation in scoring offense (39.8 ppg), while West Virginia ranks 117th in scoring defense (41.4).
OU leads the Big 12 and is fifth in the NCAA in Red Zone scoring efficiency at 93.3% (42 of 45) while WVU is tied for 85th in the nation in Red Zone defensive efficiency at 84.8% (39 of 46).
OU is the only Big 12 team that hasn't permitted a 300-yard QB in 2012. WVU QB Geno Smith enters this week's game ranked third in the nation in passing (337.9 ypg). Last week, Baylor entered its contest vs. OU leading the nation in passing (392.1 ypg) and was held to a season-low 172 passing yards by the Sooners.
Oklahoma ranks in the FBS top eight in both kickoff return avg. (5th - 28.6) and punt return avg. (8th - 15.4).
Oklahoma has averaged 46.6 ppg in its seven wins and has won 37 of its last 39 games when scoring 30 points or more. WVU has allowed an average of 51.0 ppg in its first six Big 12 contests in 2012.
The Sooners have won 30 of their last 32 contests when holding opponents to 30 points or less.
No player has caught more than six passes in a single contest vs. the OU defense this season. Mountaineers WR Tavon Austin (10.7) leads the NCAA in receptions per game, while WR Stedman Bailey (8.3 per game) ranks fifth.

RED ZONE PRODUCTION
Oklahoma is fifth in the nation with a Red Zone scoring percentage of 93.3 percent. The Sooners have scored on 42 of 45 trips inside the Red Zone to trail only Louisville, Ole Miss, Clemson and Wyoming.
On defense, Oklahoma has allowed teams to score on 19 of 23 trips inside the Red Zone (82.6 percent). However, those 23 trips are tied for third-fewest allowed in the nation with Florida State and trail only Connecticut (21) and Alabama (22).
 
RED RIVER ROUT
Oklahoma beat Texas for the third year in a row and the ninth time in the last 13 years with a 63-21 win (10/13). In their last three wins, the Sooners have outscored the Longhorns, 146-58.
Oklahoma's 36 first-half points were the most against Texas since 2003 while the 34-point halftime lead was the largest since leading 42-7 at halftime of the 2000 contest.
The Sooners had four players with 100 or more all-purpose yards, including Damien Williams (177), Trey Millard (164), Brennan Clay (155) and Justin Brown (140).
Jaydan Bird's tackle for loss in the second half was the first safety caused by Oklahoma since a forced fumble exited the back of Baylor's end zone (11/20/10). It was the first defensive safety since Ronnell Lewis sacked the Idaho State QB for two points (9/12/09).

The Sooners were picked to finish first in the Big 12 preseason media poll.

In Bob Stoops' 13 seasons at OU, six of his assistant coaches have gone on to become head coaches at other FBS programs.
Four former Stoops' assistants are now head coaches: Mike Leach (Washington State), Bo Pelini (Nebraska), Kevin Sumlin (Texas A&M) and Kevin Wilson (Indiana).
This season, Mike Stoops returns to Oklahoma as the defensive coordinator, while Tim Kish joins the program as assistant defensive coordinator.
Three current assistants played for Oklahoma, including Jackie Shipp (1980-83), Cale Gundy (1990-93) and Josh Heupel (1999-00).

The Sooners are 80-5 on Owen Field under Stoops.
OU is 69-5 when ranked and 11-0 when unranked at home.

OFFENSE

Under Bob Stoops, OU has produced career leaders in passing, receiving, total offense and all-purpose yards, four top-10 career rushers and season record holders in rushing, passing, total offense and receiving yards.

Stoops' OU teams have set 66 offensive school records.
OU has scored in 182 straight games since 11/7/98.
Since Stoops' arrival, OU has scored 6,654 points - an average of 36.6 per game.
Oklahoma is the highest scoring college program in history. In 1,190 games, the Sooners have scored 32,287 points. Michigan is next at 31,025 points in 1,261 games.
With a 69-13 win over Florida A&M (9/8) and a 63-21 defeat of Texas (10/13), it marks the first time since the 2009 season that OU scored 60+ points twice in the same season. In 2009, OU beat Idaho State 64-0 (9/12/09) and Texas A&M 65-10 (11/14/09).
 
PROLIFIC PASSER
With the victory over Texas (10/13), surpassed QB Steve Davis (1973-75) for the most wins in school history. Landry Jones now owns a 36-10 (.782) record as a starter.
Jones is one of two players in Big 12 history and one of five in NCAA history with over 100 TDs (111) and over 15,000 passing yards (15,069) in his career.
Of Jones' 277 yards against Baylor (11/10), 212 came in the first half. OU is 21-1 all-time when he throws for 200+ yards before halftime.
OU is 29-2 (.933) when Jones throws two or more touchdowns in a game.
With 405 yards on 32-45 passing at Iowa State (11/3), Jones recorded his 10th career game of 400+ passing yards and first of the season. Before Jones, there had only been four 400-yard games in OU program history.
It was also his fourth 300-yard passing game of the season and 25th of his career, adding to his OU record.
Jones currently ranks fourth in the Big 12 and 13th in the country with 299.0 passing yards per game. He is also fourth in the conference and 25th in the NCAA with 288.2 yards of total offense per game.
 
STILLS HAS BEEN SENSATIONAL
Junior WR Kenny Stills has had an impressive 2012 campaign, leading the team with 682 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 54 catches.
His 75.8 receiving yards per game rank seventh in the Big 12 and 46th in the NCAA, while his 6.0 receptions per game is 39th in the country and seventh in the conference.
Going over the 100-yard mark in his first two games of the year, Stills now has five career 100-yard receiving games, moving Stills ahead of Eddie Hinton for fifth all-time at OU.
Stills' 68-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter against UTEP (9/1) was the longest of his career, surpassing the 58-yarder he had vs. Texas Tech (11/13/2010), and it was the longest pass play for OU since since Jones hit Cameron Kenney for an 86-yard touchdown at Oklahoma State (11/27/10).
Among active players in the NCAA, Stills ranks No. 12 in receiving yards per game (68.1; min. 25 games), tied for No. 16 in TD receptions (19), tied for No. 18 in receptions (176) and No. 19 in receiving yards (2,317).
 
SAUNDERS MAKING QUICK IMPACT
Playing in just five of nine games so far this season after transferring from Fresno State, junior wide receiver Jalen Saunders already ranks third on the team in receptions (29) and receiving yards (373).

Against Notre Dame, Saunders tied Ryan Broyles' school record with 15 receptions and tallied 181 receiving yards.
He also broke the OU record for most receptions in a quarter with eight in the first quarter. The previous record was seven shared by Eddie Hinton (once) and Ryan Broyles (three times).
Saunders 181 yards is the eighth-highest total by an OU player in school history and the most since Ryan Broyles' school record of 217 yards against Kansas in 2011.
Saunders transferred to Oklahoma after two seasons at Fresno State where he was a first-team All-WAC selection in 2011 after finishing with 1,065 yards and a conference-best 12 TD receptions on 50 catches. His 21.4 yards per catch was second nationally as he caught 10 passes that were 44 yards or longer and recorded 6 TDs of 50 yards or longer.
 
BELLDOZER RETURNS
After rushing for 13 touchdowns last season, Blake Bell and the Belldozer package has returned in 2012 with 10 rushing scores.
Against Baylor (11/10), Bell scored on a 55-yard TD run. It was the longest by an OU QB since Patrick Fletcher's 58-yard rush vs. TCU (9/12/98) and the longest TD run by an OU QB since an 80-yarder by Eric Moore vs. Baylor (10/18/97).
Bell surpassed his previous career high of 51rushing yards in a game (Iowa, 12/31/11) with his 55-yard touchdown run. He finished the game with five carries for 74 yards.
Bell scored four rushing touchdowns against Texas (10/13) and now has six multi-rushing touchdown games in his career.

CLAY COMES THROUGH
Junior RB Brennan Clay ran for a TD and had his first career TD reception against Baylor (11/10). It was the second multi-TD game of his career, as he rushed for two TDs against Florida A&M (9/8).
With an injury to starting RB Damien Williams, Clay got his first start of the season at Iowa State (11/3). He responded by setting career highs in both rushes (24) and rushing yards (157). It was the first 100-yard game of his career as he broke marks of 15 rushes against Missouri (9/24/11) and 64 rushing yards against Tulsa (9/3/11).

WILLIAMS CONTINUES TO WOW
A transfer from Arizona Western, junior running back Damien Williams made his presence felt in his brief time at Oklahoma.

Averaging 76.3 rushing yards per game, Williams is third in the Big 12.
Against Baylor (11/10), Williams scored twice, bringing his total to nine touchdowns this year. It was his second multi-TD game of his career after scoring four against Florida A&M (9/8).
Williams rushed for 167 yards on 22 carries against Texas (10/13), his third 100-yard game of the season after previous games rushing for 156 and 103 yards. It was the 33rd 100-yard rushing performance by a Sooner against Texas in the series' history.
The 167 rushing yards were the most by an OU player since Demarco Murray ran for 208 yards against Utah State (9/4/10).
Williams' 95-yard touchdown rush against UT was the third longest run in school history, trailing only Jeff Frazier (North Texas, 11/23/95) and Buck McPhail (Kansas State, 11/3/51) who each recorded 96-yard rushes. It was also the longest rush in Red River Rivalry history and the fourth-longest offensive play in OU history.
Williams has scored on runs of 65, 89 and 95 yards this year. The only other FBS player with three or more rushing TDs of 65+ yards is Northern Illinois' Jordan Lynch, also with three.
Williams showed an added element to his game against Texas Tech (10/6), catching a career-high 6 passes for 82 yards, including a 38-yard reception, in his first career start.
After finishing with 10 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown at UTEP (9/1) in his OU debut, Williams gained 156 rushing yards and four touchdowns against Florida A&M (9/8).
Williams' 156 total yards rushing were the most in home debut in Oklahoma history, surpassing Dominique Whaley's 131 yards vs. Tulsa (9/3/11).
Williams is the first Sooner to register 100-yard rushing games in each of the first two games of his OU career since Adrian Peterson rushed for 100 yards against Bowling Green (9/4/04) and 117 against Houston (9/11/04).
 
MILLARD IS THE MAN
Against Texas (10/13), junior fullback Trey Millard had five receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown, easily surpassing his previous career highs of three receptions and 39 receiving yards.
Millard had a 73-yard reception, the longest pass play by an OU player in Red River Rivalry history, surpassing Buddy Leake's 65-yarder in 1953. It was also the seventh-longest pass play by a Sooner running back in OU history.
 
SHEPARD SHINES IN FIRST SEASON
Sterling Shepard started for the first time in his Sooner career against Kansas State (9/22) and set career highs with seven receptions for 108 yards, leading all receivers.
Shepard became the seventh freshman in OU history to go over 100 yards receiving. OU freshmen have accomplished the feat eight times overall. Ryan Broyles was the previous freshman to do so, gaining 141 yards at Cincinnati (9/6/08).
Shepard's 108 receiving yards ties him with Mark Clayton (vs. Baylor, 10/20/01) and Tinker Owens (vs. Nebraska, 11/23/72) for fourth-most receiving yards by a freshman.
Shepard is tied for second on the team with three touchdown receptions, is third with 387 receiving yards and fourth with 28 receptions.
 

DEFENSE

Oklahoma has ranked in the top 16 in the nation in total defense eight of the last 11 years.
OU has forced at least one turnover in 156 of 182 games over the last 14 seasons - 86% of games played in that span.
The Sooner defense has at least one interception in 73% of its games (133 of 182) over the last 14 years.
Oklahoma has 13 shutouts under Bob Stoops.
Under Stoops, the OU defense has given up an average of just 18.4 points per game.
The defense has allowed less than 100 rushing yards per game in five of the last 11 seasons.
 
BACK TO THE FUTURE
OU associate head coach and defensive coordinator Mike Stoops is back on the Sooner coaching staff after guiding the OU defense from 1999-03.
In his first stint in Norman, four of Stoops' five defenses finished No. 7 or better nationally in scoring defense and in the top 10 for total defense.
From 2000-03, Stoops' defenses also finished in the top 25 in pass defense and rush defense every season and in pass efficiency defense and turnovers forced twice.
In addition, Stoops is the only coach to have an athlete win both the Nagurski and Thorpe awards in the same season, doing so twice with Roy Williams in 2001 and Derrick Strait in 2003.
 
NO PASSING ZONE
Oklahoma leads the Big 12 and ranks eighth in the nation in passing defense, yielding just 170.2 yards per game.
Only two of OU's seven opponents have passed for 200+ yards this season. The other four have each thrown for 191 yards or less.
The OU defense held Baylor (11/10) to season lows in total offense (424 yards) and passing yards (172 yards) and tied the Bears' season low in pass completions (12). Baylor averaged 581.5 yards of total offense, 392.1 passing yards and 25.9 completions per game entering the game.
OU held Baylor QB Nick Florence to 172 passing yards, a season low (previously 289 vs. TCU). Florence averaged 377.4 ypg coming into the game, the top mark in the nation.
The OU defense held UTEP to just 48 yards passing in the season opener (9/1), the fewest passing yards allowed by the Sooners since Oklahoma State had 47 (11/28/2009).
The 48 passing yards allowed were the second-fewest in the FBS' opening week and the best for a team facing a fellow FBS opponent.
Under Bob Stoops, the Sooners are 83-8 when limiting teams to 200 yards passing or less.
OU is the only Big 12 school to not allow an opponent to throw for over 300 yards in a game this year.
 
INTERCEPTIONS IN BUNCHES
OU went into the Texas Tech game (10/6) with 1 interception this year, but has picked off eight passes in the last six games: 3 vs. Texas Tech, 2 vs. Texas (10/13), 2 vs. Kansas (10/20) and 1 at Iowa State (11/3).
The 3 picks against TTU were the most by OU since it had 3 vs. Texas A&M (11/5/2011). It was just the second time in the career of Texas Tech's Seth Doege that he threw three picks in a game.
In that stretch, Javon Harris has three interceptions, Tony Jefferson and Aaron Colvin each have two and Jamarkus McFarland has one.
 
JEFFERSON STRONG IN THE SECONDARY
With a team-high 79 tackles through nine games, junior safety Tony Jefferson is on pace for the second-most tackles by a defensive back in OU history. With an average of 8.8 stops per game, Jefferson is on pace to finish with 114.
Jefferson totaled 11 tackles against Baylor (11/10), his fifth double-digit tackle game of the season and sixth of his career.
Jefferson tallied 14 tackles against Kansas State (9/22), the most tackles by a Sooner since defensive back Quinton Carter had 17 tackles vs. Texas Tech (11/13/10).
Jefferson (14) and Javon Harris (career-high 12) became the first OU DBs to both have double-digit tackle totals in the same game since Jemell Fleming and Jonathan Nelson accomplished the feat against Texas A&M (11/6/10).
Jefferson is fifth in the Big 12 with 8.8 tackles per game.
 
HARRIS THE BALL-HAWK
Javon Harris has three of the eight Oklahoma interceptions over the last five games.
After returning a pick 46 yards for his first defensive touchdown against Texas Tech (10/6), Harris matched a career high with two interceptions against Kansas (10/20). Harris also had two INTs against Florida State (9/17/11).
Harris is tied for 10th in the NCAA with four interceptions on the season and he has seven career interceptions.
Harris finished with a team-high and career-high 14 tackles for his third career double-digit tackle game (second of the season).
 
DEFENSIVE TDS AT 43
With a defensive touchdown at Texas Tech (10/6/12), Oklahoma now has 43 in Bob Stoops' 13+ seasons.
Thirteen of those TDs came via a fumble return.
The defense has scored at least one touchdown in all of Stoops' 14 seasons.
 

SPECIAL TEAMS

There have been 29 special teams touchdowns in the Bob Stoops era.
Those 29 have come via five different kinds of plays -- punt returns, fake field goals, blocked punts, kickoff returns and a fake punt. Special teams also owns four safeties in that span.
Oklahoma has returned eight kickoffs and 17 punts for touchdowns.
Oklahoma has blocked 28 kicks.
 
VERY SPECIAL TEAMS
Oklahoma ranks fifth in the NCAA in kick returns (28.6) and eighth in punt returns (15.4), one of two schools in the top eight of both categories.
The 28.6 average on kick returns would sit second all-time at OU, behind the single-season record of 31.6 average set in 1980.
 
MANY HAPPY RETURNS
Kickoff Returns --115 returns of 25 yards or more with eight touchdowns.
Punt Returns -- 73 returns of 15 or more yards with 17 touchdowns.
Interception Returns -- 94 returns of 10 or more yards with 25 touchdowns.
Fumble Returns -- 9 returns of 15 or more yards with 12 touchdowns.
 
WAY GOOD AT PUNTER
Tress Way is third among active punters in the FBS with 233 career punts and 10,186 yards.
Way also ranks No. 8 among active punters in the NCAA with a 43.7 yards per punt average.
His career average currently ranks No. 1 in OU history with a season left to play, just ahead of Jeff Ferguson (1998-01) at 42.5 ypp.
Way kicked a 71-yard punt in the first quarter at Texas Tech (10/6). It was a season long and ties as the third-longest of his career. Way now has four career punts of 70+ yards.
 
HUNNICUTT THROUGH THE UPRIGHTS
Returning kicker Michael Hunnicutt is in his second season as the Sooners' field goal kicker.
This season he has made 10-of-11 field goal tries with a long of 42 against Texas Tech (10/6). After missing a 44-yarder to start the year, he has made his last 10 successfully.
His 90.9 conversion percentage leads the Big 12 and is tied for sixth in the nation.
Hunnicutt has made two field goals in four games this year. That gives him seven multi-field goal games in his career. He is now 31-of-35 in his career.
 
WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU?
Senior wide receiver Justin Brown ranks fifth in the NCAA, averaging 16.2 yards per punt return.
Brown set a career-high with 108 punt return yards against Kansas (10/20), including the first punt return for a touchdown in his career. It's the ninth-highest total in the FBS this season.
It's the second time Brown eclipsed the 100-yard mark this year. He also returned three punts for a 102 yards against Florida A&M (9/8), which made him the first player since Ryan Broyles had 209 yards vs. Oklahoma State (11/28/09) to go over the 100-yard mark.
Brown is the only player in the NCAA this year with multiple 100+ yard punt return games.
