NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma safety Lendy Holmes has been named the Big 12 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for his work in last Saturday's 45-31 victory over Kansas in Norman.

Holmes intercepted two passes off Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing, who had thrown just three total interceptions coming into the game.

Holmes also had eight tackles, one for loss and two pass deflections.

The Dallas native now leads OU in interceptions with three this season and is No. 4 on the team in tackles with 42.

Other Big 12 honorees for this week were Texas quarterback Colt McCoy on offense and Kansas State kicker Brooks Rossman for special teams.

This week, Oklahoma plays the second of three straight games against the Big 12 North when the Sooners visit Kansas State. Kickoff is slated for 11:30 a.m., and the game will be televised by FSN.
