Polls: OU No. 6 in AP, No. 5 in Coaches

No school has been ranked more weeks in the AP Top 10 than the Sooners.

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma slipped to No. 6 in the the latest AP Poll but held at No. 5 in the latest Coaches Poll released Sunday. The Sooners (2-0) were idle this past weekend.

Six of the remaining 10 opponents on OU's schedule are ranked including No. 8 (AP)/7 (Coaches) West Virginia, No. 11/15 Notre Dame, No. 12/10 Texas, No. 15/13 Kansas State, No. 17/16 TCU and No. 25 Oklahoma State.

This marks the 535th week that OU has been ranked in the Top 10 of the AP Poll, more weeks than any other team since the service began in 1936. In fact, Oklahoma is the most illustrious program in the poll's history with the most weeks at No. 1 (101), in the Top 2 (199) and in the Top 5 (383).

Oklahoma hosts Kansas State Saturday night in Norman in the Big 12 opener for both schools. FOX Sports has the national telecast with kickoff slated for shortly after 6:50 p.m CT.
