Sooners Hold Firm at No. 5 in Polls

Oklahoma leads the nation in weeks (383) ranked in the Top 5 of the AP Poll.

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma (2-0) held at No. 5 in the the latest AP and Coaches Polls released Sunday. In the AP, the Sooners now share the spot with Florida State as both teams received 1160 points in the media vote.
 
Five of the remaining 10 opponents on OU's schedule are ranked including No. 9/8 West Virginia, No. 14/12 Texas, No. 15/14 Kansas State , No. 16/15 TCU and No. 20/19 Notre Dame. Then-No. 18 Oklahoma State was beaten at Arizona and fell from the poll.
 
This marks the 383rd week that OU has been ranked in the Top 5 of the AP Poll, more weeks than any other team since the service began in 1936. In fact, Oklahoma is the most illustrious program in the poll's history with the most weeks at No. 1 (101), in the Top 2 (199) and in the Top 10 (534).
